The 1st Annual Autism Seminar will be held on November 21, 2009. Taking place at The Center for the Performing Arts at Governors State University, the seminar will host speakers in a variety of disciplines as well as an exhibitors’ hall of products and services. The doors open at 10:30 a.m., allowing attendees to walk through the exhibition hall that will include over 50 exhibitors with products such as allergy free-cleansers, toys, fitness classes, and allergen-free food. The Autism Society of Illinois and Defeat Autism Now (DAN) practitioners will be there as well as Integrative Hyperbaric Center. Some products will be available for purchase. But most importantly, parent will be able to talk face-to-face with service organizations and product exhibitioners. The speakers will start holding sessions at The Center for the Performing Arts auditorium as well as the Engbretson Hall at 12:30 p.m. and running through till 8:30 p.m., giving attendees a chance to pick and choose topics pertaining to their needs. The keynote speaker at 1:30 p.m. is Dr. Andrew Moulden M.D., PhD, a leading voice in the medical community about how various elements affect the human body and is leading to greater numbers of children diagnosed with Autism. Dr. Moulden speaks across the country on this topic and we are delighted to have him share his expertise at our first seminar. Other speakers include Linda Marshall-Kramer OTR/L from Children’s Therapy Services; Karriann Longtin, DAN Practitioner, Pfeiffer Treatment Center; Dr. Chun Wong, Integrative Autism Medicine; and Desireé Rinehart, mother of an Autistic Child. It is our goal to bring parents the opportunity to meet face-to-face with those experts. Another goal is to bring information to professionals who work with children and they are able to receive CEU and CPDU credit hours when they attend the seminar.
